Investigator Fireside in Kichijoji

The event shown below was on one of the many Monday holidays in Japan.  We went with the other missionary couples to the Musashino Stake Center for the activity.  It was sponsored by the stake and very well attended.  It was clean and wholesome but perhaps a little loud, however, the young people really enjoyed it.  It takes us three trains and about 40 minutes to get there, plus a 10 minute walk through a big shopping area where there is a Seiyo Store (WalMart).  It's always good to stop there and pick up a few things.  After the performance we went to a Thai restaurant nearby that we have walked past quite a few times and always said that we should try.  The food was very good but the restaurant can best be described as very rustic and sort of cave-like.  We talked to our waiter about the church and he had attended the church we had just come from.  It's nice to have a little diversion from the office since we are usually there from about 7:45 am to 6:00 pm.  In the evenings we are trying to find more ways to work with the young missionaries in our ward and also searching out some of the less-actives.  The gospel of Jesus Christ brings such strength and joy to those who live and guides in these perilous times.  Those who have drifted away don't have that help and often find themselves in lonely and unhappy situations.  Many would like to come back but are afraid and need a friend to help them.

Young LDS singing group from Japan called Bless 4--they sand in both English and Japanese.  They are popular in Japan and the oldest girl is an especially popular performer in Japan

The cultural hall of the church filled to over-flowing with members, missionaries, and investigators--the missionaries were asked to bring non-members so there were about 150 non-members there.

Popular American singing group in Japan--perform gospel songs and oldies.  You might notice one of  the missionaries on the right playing the guitar for them.  He just arrived in Japan and had only day to practice with them.

They were very entertaining, friendly, and had lots of audience involvement in their singing.

Even the missionaries got into the act.

Not a great picture but the guy in the pink shirt--don't know who is--was really having a good time and he wasn't young either.

The kids came up and played musical chairs with live music.  The didn't know what it was a first but the caught on really quickly.  They were really cute and he gave some of  them a cd because they felt bad when they lost.

He invited some of the youth to come up and sing with him.  They didn't know the words but they sang anyway.

Thai Restaurant
Another view of Thai cave--it was small but had very good food.

And this is us at the Thai restaurant.
